Where can I eat in Aviemore ?

Here are a few of the Great North Lodges team’s favourite places to eat –

The Cairngorms PIC: P Tomkins/VisitScotland

Ian and Myra:

The Old Bridge Inn  is a traditional country pub by the River Spey in Aviemore, with a fantastic locally-sourced menu and a huge local beer selection. Ian recommends, “Trade Winds” beer by the Cairngorm Brewery. The OBI often have live music and dogs are allowed in the bar area. They also offer Vegetarian, Vegan and kids menu options. Smiffys fish and chip shop and restaurant located on the main high street in Aviemore. I can’t resist the smell of the chips and vinegar as I walk along the street.  A great place for quick food, good value for money also the outdoor seating/table area is handy when I have my dogs with me, we can sit outside and eat. Telephone: 01479 810190.

The Winking Owl  bar and restaurant, known locally as “The Winky”. Good wholesome food. It’s owned by the Cairngorm Brewery, so they have a great selection of local beers. I recommend the venison steak. They’ve been awarded Visit Scotland’s Taste our Best Award. They often have live music in the Bothy bar. Vegetarian, Gluten Free and Kids menu options are also available. Telephone: 01479 812368.

The award winning Mountain Cafe provides high quality locally sourced food. It’s a popular cafe, so be prepared to wait. Your patience is rewarded with good wholesome food. I love the veggie breakfast, apple crumble porridge and the tumeric latte. Vegetarian, Vegan, Dairy Free, Wheat Free, Gluten Free and Kids menu options are available. Telephone: 01479 812473
