Silver Birch Cottage
Our 2nd visit to Silver Birch Cottage and it is a lovely as before. Just the right size for 2 people and a dog. Lovely quiet location, spacious well equipped kitchen (probably the most equipped I’ve ever stayed in!) and very warm and comfortable. Logs for the fire available at the local Co-op, easy walk into town. No direct access from the cottage to the garden, so we had a few cold snowy mornings out with the dog in our pjs but less curious pets may go straight out and back in without supervision!

booked this last minute.
Found the property nice and warm and immaculately clean.
No complaints only compliments.

This was a last minute 2 night stay (but had to pay for 3) only booked it as couldn,t get anything else. Bedrooms ok. Had to clean toilet pan and bath in bathroom. Work surfaces in kitchen also needed cleaned. House would be alright if more attention focused on the cleanliness of the property. Will still use Great North Lodges as booking agent as they are always very friendly and helpful.

Silver Birch Cottage is situated in a perfect location for easy access to the town. Just yards from your front door is a pleasant country lane which takes you into the town centre (10min walk) For those arriving by train you can access this shortcut beside Subway, go down the steps, under the bridge and head up to your left. The cottage is in first cul de sac on your left. The accommodation is exactly as shown in the pictures, clean with comfortable beds and the all important log burner for those chilly evenings. We only had one tiny complaint and that was the lack of cleaning materials, toilet rolls and bin liners but a message to housekeeping sorted out the problem. In this recycling era I think there should be instructions in the information folder regarding waste, as there is only one bin at the property for non recycling products which left us a bit puzzled for disposal of the recyclable items.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to others.
