Two Queens Houses
Description
Imagine going to the most magical place in Scotland, and then picture yourself staying right in its very heart. That is exactly the experience you are guaranteed, no matter the season, the weather or the occasion at Two Queens Houses.
The property is newly renovated to a high standard from its humble beginnings as lodgings for the Forestry Commission and is nestled in a small hamlet surrounded by the top picks of things to do in Aviemore.
With so much to brag about, we should maybe start with the view. Whether snow capped or golden with the setting sun, looking over the Cairngorm Vista at such close range is a luxurious to the soul and leaves you feeling so much gratitude. Should you prefer to walk or ski, the access is just a stone throw away, and there is a huge network of paths suitable for bikes, buggies and even cross country skis.
Just across the road is the magestic Loch Morlich, famous for its sandy beaches and fresh water. Walk round it, sail it, swim it or simply take time to sit and watch the world go by. Try some awesome cake at the Boat House which is sat on the shore. You are also blessed with the lively Pine Marten Bar, serving up local ales, great food and local musicians for memorable nights in the pub.
The Hay field, within view of the house, is where youngsters cut their sledging and skiing teeth, with a gentle slope which sees a congregation when it snows.
And just up the back of the house, is the well know Glenmore Lodge, well worth a visit if you wish to go a little further with your appetite for outdoor sports. A path leads on to the famous Green Loch where fairies wash their clothes, and further up takes you out to Ryvoan bothy, a great cycle or walk for the family. Oh and there is the Reindeer Centre, Visitor Centre, and Sled dog centre.
Glenmore is also a site of scientific interest as one of the last parts of Caledonian Pine Forest, the descendants of trees born after the ice age, and with that also comes a wealth of nature, Capercaillie, Osprey, Golden eagles to name just a few.
