A Well-Equipped and Convenient Retreat in Aviemore – Bennachie
on Saturday, 13 Jun 2026
We recently enjoyed a week-long stay at Bennachie in Aviemore to celebrate a special birthday. Our party consisted of four adults and two dogs, and the property proved to be an excellent base for exploring the Cairngorm Mountains and local attractions. Property Highlights Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the exceptional level of cleanliness. The house is well-proportioned, comfortably accommodating our group. The kitchen is outstandingly well-equipped, featuring a halogen hob, oven, dishwasher, and ample utensils, while the utility room provided a highly convenient space for drying outdoor gear. The living areas were equally well-appointed, offering comfortable seating, Sky TV, and a high-speed Wi-Fi connection (approx. 900 Mbps). We particularly appreciated the garden, which offered a secure space for our dogs and a lovely decking area perfect for enjoying the late June evening sun. The heating system, managed via a Hive controller, was efficient and quickly warmed the house during the cooler evenings. Location and Accessibility Situated approximately one mile from Aviemore village, the location strikes a great balance between accessibility and proximity to nature. The driveway offers convenient parking for two vehicles. It should be noted that due to the property's proximity to the A9, some road noise is audible from the garden; while this was not a major issue for us, it is a point of consideration for future guests. Areas for Improvement While our stay was highly pleasant, there are minor areas where the property’s comfort could be enhanced. The mattresses in the twin rooms were noted as being quite thin, and the pillows provided in the bedrooms were somewhat lacking in quality. Upgrading these would significantly improve the guest experience. Conclusion Bennachie is a well-maintained and thoughtful property that serves as a fantastic retreat for families or groups visiting the Highlands. Despite the minor notes regarding bedding, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-equipped base in Aviemore.
